How Did Throwing Stars Work for Ninjas?
When we talk about throwing stars, we often mean
the ninja stars. At times, we call them ninja throwing stars as well. We often
hear that ninjas used these stars to win the battles against their enemies. It
seems as if they came handy in the wars, but did they really work every time
for the ninjas?
There is a lot of speculation about the throwing
stars. A few historians suggest that they served as the primary weapons for
ninjas that gave them an advantage over their opponents. There is no doubt that
ninjas were powerful warriors. I also consider them smart with the types of
weapons they used.
Throwing stars are one of the smart weapons used
by the ninjas. They worked for them in several ways. Usually, a star is a
small-sized thing with a few edges on it. Typically, there are five to seven
edges. So, these edges did the damage to the opponents. But, how did they
really work for the ninjas? Let’s find out:
Mainly Used as Tactical Weapons
Having said there are a few common beliefs about
throwing stars, and this is another one. But, we rightly believe that they
served as tactical weapons. A tactical weapon, by definition, is the one that
fulfills your needs. In the case of ninjas, they always wished to gain an upper
hand in the war as early as possible. So, using stars provided them a tactical
benefit. They were used for maiming, not killing. They could throw them on
their enemies as they come closer to them. This caused distraction and leave
them in an unfamiliar situation. They were unsure about what was happening to
them.
Also, they could not figure out where these
stars are coming from. In addition, when these stars hit them they flew away
quickly. Ninjas had the power to throw these stars at a seriously high pace.
Hence, the enemies were often confused about the tactics applied by the ninjas.
Meanwhile, ninjas could launch an attack and gain an advantage over their
enemies even before the war started.
Could be Thrown From a Distance
A huge advantage to the ninjas was that they
could throw stars from a distance. They did not need to get closer to their
enemies. Rather, they can stand at a safe distance away from their enemies and
throw stars on them. Also, they could hide from the enemies and cause confusion
among them. But, to gain such an advantage, you need to be extremely accurate
with your throws. Also, a star-striking at a low pace could not cause any
damage. Hence, ninjas had to throw them at a high pace and with
precision.
Capable of Inflicting Injuries
Throwing stars were small but had the ability to
inflict severe injuries. Also, you have to credit ninjas who use ninja weapons because they threw
them at great speed and with brilliant accuracy. When these stars hit their
enemies at such a high pace, the edges on them could cause severe injuries.
Ninjas often targeted the heads and faces so that the injuries become worst for
their enemies. At times, these stars were embedded into the grounds as well.
This was another tactical move by the ever-smart ninjas.
The stars were embedded in such a way that edges
were heading upwards. As their enemies stepped on them, they suffered injuries
to their feet. This caused a lot of distraction to them as they could not
identify the tactics adopted by the ninjas. This gave early advantage to the
ninjas. They take control even before the war initiated. In utter confusion,
ninjas launched attacks on them. It became pretty difficult for their enemies
to get back momentum. In the end, ninjas managed to win the battles. So, this
is how throwing stars worked for them.
